English officials stated on 26th that `Envisat`, observation satellite for earth environment of ESA (Europe Space Administration) will be launched from Curu, Guyana, North of South America, and French territory.
This satellite, which 14 European countries developed putting more than 2 billion dollars, will observe environmental changes on earth such as atmosphere, oceans, both the poles, each continents, etc., circling Earth`s orbit for 5~10 years.
Envisat is loaded with 10 close measuring devices in order to enable measure wide area such as observing ozone layer to tides of oceans and it is expected that 3 measuring devices of Envisat will provide information to NASA of U.S, too.
Also, it is able to expert the function of weather satellite like forecasting floods, avalanches, storms etc. and observing actively and measuring seawater surface, detecting water routes in desert.
David Sainsbury, Minister of Science in U.K. said, Envisat is not just common weather satellite but a great achievement.
