Resignation of Shin Kwang-Ok Was Accepted

Posted December. 15, 2001 13:15,

Vice Justice Minister Shin Kwang-Ok submitted his resignation yesterday and it was accepted immediately. The Ministry of Justice announced, "former Vice Minister submitted his resignation, judging that it would be a burden to the investigation team if he is investigated as an incumbent Vice Justice Minister."

The Justice Ministry revealed, "former Vice Minister is willing to testify clearly whenever he is called for the investigation. The investigation would be carried out with more fairness and transparency by the resignation of Vice Minister Shin."

The Ministry of Justice will appoint a new Vice Minister by 17th and Kim Seung-Gyu, Director of the Kwangju High Public Prosecutors Office, is anticipated as the next Vice Justice Minister.

The Justice Ministry will transfer a director of prosecutors to the Kwangju High Prosecutors Office, since both Director and Vice director of the Kwangju High Prosecutors Office will be vacant if the Director is appointed as a new Vice Minister. Im Yang-Wun, the vice-director of the Kwangju High Prosecutors Office, resigned from his office in relation to the `Lee Yong-Ho Gate`.
