Rep. Moon Hee-Sang, secretary of the New Millennium Democratic Party in the Intelligence Committee of the National Assembly, said that Shin Kuhn, Director General of National Intelligence Service, refused to resign from his office, saying "it is not appropriate that the Director General resigns from the office when there are so many projects to reform and reactivated NIS are on their way. I am not considering the possibility of resignation."
Director General Shin responded to the opposition party`s request for his resignation taking responsibility for the disorderliness and corruption of NIS, "NIS Director General is responsible for leading the organization with more accountability in such a difficult situation. The resignation will not solve any problem and there is no reason for me to resign."
