Grace Park (Jie-Eun) beat Karrie Webb by a stroke and won The Office Depot championship on the U.S. LPGA tour Sunday at the Doral Resort Blue Course in Miami and earned $123,750.
Park finished with a 6-under-par 280 with two birdies and one bogey in the fourth round. It was the native Korean¡¯s second win in eight months after winning her first championship on the tour at the Kathy Island.com Classic in June last year.
Park, who finished the third round as co-leader, proved that she does not always succumb to a come-from-behind victory in the final round of a golf tournament, as she did during her amateur days. She coolly stopped defending champion Webb without yielding leadership throughout the final round.
She started the final round with co-leader Michele Redman of the United States and Webb, who placed third. While Redman dropped out of the race at an early stage with successive bogeys, Park made a dead-hit contest with Web to the 18th hole.
Park¡¯s tee shots never saw the fairway many times and did not hit greens many times, but she was superb in putting, making 29 on the way to the trophy.
