Jo Sung-Mo sells 3.55 million records

Jo Sung-Mo was found to have sold the most records this year.

His third album ¡®Do you know it¡¯, released in September, sold 1.9 million copies, while his remake album sold 1.657 million records, for a total of 3.557 million records this year.

Shinnara Records released the rankings for record sales in 2000. GOD¡¯s album ¡®Lies¡¯ and Seo Taiji¡¯s ¡®Ultramania¡¯ sold 1.31 million and 1.12 million records, respectively, for third and fourth on the list. At fifth was H.O.T.¡¯s ¡®Outside Castle¡¯, which sold 880,000 copies.

Albums listed between first and 30th place on the list sold a combined 1.681 million copies and made 117 billion won, only a modest increase from last year¡¯s 1.437 million records and 86.2 billion won.

The results show that record sales have fallen off somewhat due to the advent of new media such as the Internet and MP3.

Among female soloists and groups, Fin.kl¡¯s ¡®NOW¡¯ and Lee Jung-Hyun¡¯s ¡®You¡¯ tied for 16th with sales of 420,000 copies each. Park Ji-Yoon¡¯s ¡®Womanhood¡¯ followed with 390,000 copies and Baek Ji-Young¡¯s ¡®Dash¡¯ sold 370,000 copies, placing them 19th and 20th, respectively.
