Former president Kim Young-Sam claimed on Monday that President Kim Dae-Jung prevented Hwang Jang-Yop, former secretary of North Korean Workers¡¯ Party, from meeting with him, for fears that Hwang would reveal President Kim's communist activities.
The former president also said in a press conference at his residence in Sangdo-dong, Seoul that if DJ continues to prevent him from meeting with Hwang, he would "speak out on grave and stringent matters to Mr. Kim Dae-Jung," adding that new reporters would meet him again in a few days.
Claiming that "Hwang may be still wanting to meet me but the National Intelligence Service (NIS) was plotting conspiracy every day," the ex-president stated, ¡°Had Hwang, along with his companion Kim Dok-Hong, been expelled from the NIS, I would have liked to have them live with me in my home, doing calligraphy and conversations with them.¡±
Former president Kim further stated, since President Kim Dae-Jung is engaging in ¡°dirty tricks and dirty play, our nation has to face crises in political, economic, social and all other fields.¡±
He also accused President Kim of making ¡°shameful¡± comments whilst visiting foreign countries.
