Police arrested a 30-year-old man who, apparently angered social ostracism, threw sulfuric acid on a high school girl on her way to school and on a sleeping housewife.

Police from Yongin, Kyonggi Province, issued a warrant of arrest according to the Punishment of Violence Act.

Police said that a man broke through the mosquito screen of a 30-year-old woman¡¯s basement room and poured acid on her face. She was identified only by her family name Yun.

As Yun awoke screaming, the man, identified as Hong, ran to a high school, 1.5 kilometer away. The man then threw acid on the face and arms of a female high school senior going to school, causing second-degree burns.

On receiving reports of the assaults, police hurried to the area and arrested a man after a struggle.

According to statements by Hong, who worked at a cooking oil factory, on Wednesday he brought home 200 milliliters of sulfuric acid used to dissolve refuse, and that was used in the crimes.

¡°I could not tolerate society that treated me coldly because I am an ex-convict, so I threw acid on anyone who happened to be around,¡± Hong reportedly said.
