“The Beautiful Accompany – Peace into Blossom” opens on Sept. 14. Visitors can appreciate pieces of renowned artists of the two Koreas on display. The upcoming art project is hosted by the Seoul National University Alumni Association, led by Chairperson Shin Soo-jung, and organized by K Mecenat Network with Chairperson Sohn Eun-shin. The hosting SNU Alumni Association has made constant preparations for the exposition to promote cultural and art values in its efforts to await unification on the Korean Peninsula.

The project includes around 120 artworks of South Korea’s renowned painters including Kim Hwan-ki, Park Soo-geun and some 80 works of North Korean modern artists and defector-turned-artists. In particular, one of the eye-catching artworks is a recent painting titled “For the Saint” by Kim Byung-ki, 102, the oldest incumbent artist in Korea. He became the first chief secretary of the Arts Alliance under the arm of the North Korean Culture and Arts Alliance, right after Korea’s liberation from Japanese rule on Aug. 15, 1945. You can enjoy the exhibition until Jan. 31 next year, at Veritas Hall on the 2nd floor of SNU Scholarship Building in Mapo District, western Seoul.
