Now, it would be fair to say that Choo Shin-soo is a killer of Chen Wei-Yin.
Choo (aged 33) of Texas Rangers hit yet another home run against Taiwanese pitcher Chen. A right fielder and 7th batter at a Thursday game against Baltimore held at Camden Yards, Maryland, Choo clubbed his 11th home run of the season at the first half of the third innings as he hit the fast ball of Chen Wei-Yin.
This year, left-hander Choo has shown particularly weak performance against left-handed pitchers but its a different story when he faces with Chen. Out of three hits in seven at bats (batting average of 0.429), two walks and three strikeouts that Choo had recorded up to the date, all three hits were homers.
He continues good relations with Chens team of Baltimore Orioles as well. Choo hit home runs at the previous two games with Baltimore and had his third one on the day, which was his second record of having 3-game straight home runs. At a game against Los Angeles Angels and Washington Nationals on April 5~7th in 2013 when Choo was playing for Cincinnati Reds, he set the record of hitting homers for three consecutive games. With his home run in July 4th, 2014 at Baltimore, this would be his 4th consecutive homers against a particular team.
It is a pity that Choo Shin-soo was the only match for Chen Wei-Yin. Having shown a strong fighting spirit with 8 scores in the previous two matches, Texas at the last moment lost by 2-4 as it was overwhelmed by the power of Chen who now has a record of 4-4 with 2.84 ERA.
