North Korea`s National Defense Commission, Pyongyang`s highest authorities, on Friday criticized the South Korean president by name and reiterated its blatant denunciation.
In a statement, a spokesperson of the political bureau of the North`s National Defense Commission criticized South Korean President Park Geun-hye for deviating from democracy and "entering the path of dictatorship." The commission also argued that the South Korean president "malignantly slandered the dignity and social system (of North Korea)" and that she "openly slandered the (North) soon after she took power."
The North Korean body went as far as saying that North Koreans are "watching with dubious eyes how Park is maintaining her post in Cheong Wa Dae (South Korea`s presidential office) as she is rejected as a `stubborn woman` shunning the mindset of the people, a narrow-minded `headstrong lady` going against the national concord and a `cold-blooded being` defying the good faith of compatriots."
The North even argued that Seoul`s event to mark the Armed Forces Day on Thursday imitated Pyongyang`s July 27 festival celebrating its victory (armistice) of the 1950-1953 Korean War.
The spokesperson for Seoul`s Unification Ministry expressed regret that Pyongyang denounced the South Korean head of state by name, "using language that should not be used." He warned that Pyongyang should understand that its threatening rhetoric would only intensify its isolation.
