A tragic terrorist attack occurred in the U.S. again in 12 years after the 9.11 terrorist attacks, killing at least three people and injuring more than 140.

At the 117th Boston Marathon race in Boston, Massachusetts, two explosions detonated at the finish line at around 2:50 p.m. Monday. As the explosion took place twice within a 30-second interval, four hours after the event started and two hours after the winner passed the finish line, the attack seemed to target marathoners, families and citizens. The event was held to pay tribute to the 26 victims of Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Connecticut in December last year. 57 Korean people reportedly participate at the marathon and they are known to be unharmed.

An 8-year-old boy died while waiting for his father pass the finish line, according to local media. His mother and older sister have been wounded. The injured people have taken to a nearby hospital, and 17 among them are in a severe condition, indicating there could be further deaths.

The explosives appear to have been installed at a trash can near the marathon course, according to CBC. Police reported that one hour and 20 minutes after the deadly attack, another explosive blew up at the John F. Kennedy Library in Boston, which happened from fire and is unrelated to the marathon bombing. Who did the bombing and why has yet to be revealed.

U.S. President Barack Obama delivered a statement immediately after the Boston bombings. "Any individuals or groups responsible for the senseless bombing will feel the full weight of justice. But make no mistake, we will get to the bottom of this, and we will find out who did this, we`ll find out why they did this," he said.

White House said the incident is "clearly an act of terror" and the FBI and Boston police are analyzing the evidence obtained at the site and videos of the site to track the responsible. Two more explosives have been found near the marathon site, raising the possibility of terrorism.

CBS Boston`s WBZ-TV reported that police seized an apartment in a small city of Revere, about 8 kilometers off downtown Boston. Massachusetts police said it executed a search and seizure warrant of the apartment but didn`t disclose details.

According to the broadcaster, police took a person with Saudi Arabia nationality whose acting was suspicious around the site and is interrogating the person. He is known to be denying, however.
