Central regions of the country will see another bout of torrential rain Monday. The Korea Meteorological Administration said on Sunday, “Due to a trough of low pressure from China, the rain will begin falling in central regions of the country and expand throughout the nation on Monday.”

According to the weather agency, Seoul, Gyeonggi Province, western regions of Gangwon Province and northern regions of the Chungcheong provinces will see more than 50 millimeters of rain per hour from Sunday afternoon through Monday morning. Certain regions will see up to 120 millimeters of rain per hour.

The agency said that central regions of the country will see rain Tuesday due to a trough of low pressure, and the nation will be drenched with rain on Wednesday.

The Korea Meteorological Administration issued heavy rain warnings for Incheon excluding Ganghwa County on Sunday afternoon and issued heavy rain notices for Seoul, Gyeonggi and southern regions of the country Sunday night. It also issued heavy rain notices early Monday morning for Wonju, Jeongseon and Hoengseong in Gangwon Province, Chungju and Jecheon in North Chungcheong Province, and Cheonan in South Chungcheong Province.

An agency source said, “Regional differences in precipitation will be large this time as well because atmospheric instability will cause localized torrential rain,” adding, “Central regions should prepare for landslides, embankment collapses and flooding of low-lying districts since the ground in the regions has weakened due to heavy rain.”
