Posted May. 18, 2011 06:18,

The number of science papers listed on the Korea Citation Index is only a fourth of those of arts and humanities and their Impact factor is a third of that of those of social science. Ninety percent of Korean science papers have never been cited.

The National Research Foundation of Korea developed the impact factor measuring the level of influence of academic papers and released the factor of the Korea Citation Index of arts and humanities, and social science. It also posted the analysis of the index of natural sciences and engineering on its homepage Tuesday.

Critics said arts and humanities produced papers with little influence when it turned out that 80 percent of such papers were never cited by authors.
