Korea’s first icebreaker Araon tests its ice-breaking capability Tuesday in breaking ice one meter thick nearby the West Antarctic Ice Sheet at 74 degrees 46 minutes south latitude and 137 degrees 21 minutes west longitude. The Araon passed through ice one meter thick at a speed of three knots, and will hold tests for 10 days.
