Reading About the Riots

Uighurs read newspapers reporting on the riots that broke out in Urumqi, the capital of China’s Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region. One article told of the news conference held by Xinjiang`s Communist Party chief, Wang Lequan, who urged Uighurs to return to normal life. The daily also contained pictures of victims killed or injured in the riots.
