U.S. President-elect Barack Obama will make the single largest new investment in national infrastructure since the Eisenhower administration in the 1950s.
His plan announced Saturday includes repairing and building roads and bridges; remodeling federal government buildings to be more energy efficient; upgrading school buildings and equipping them with computers; and bolstering the development of broadband Internet connections.
It is unacceptable that the United States ranks 15th in the world in broadband adoption, he said, adding Americas global competitiveness depends on investment in information technology and education.
