The 12-day Beijing Paralympics ended yesterday, with Korea finishing 13th with 10 gold, eight silver and 13 bronze medals.

Korea fell short of its target of 13 golds, but finished one notch higher than expected. The country stood out in shooting, winning four golds.

It added two more golds each in archery and Bochia and one each in track and table tennis.

Shooter Lee Ji-seok, 34, and Bochia player Park Geon-woo, 18, won two medals each.

The Paralympics consisted of 20 events and 472 medals up for grabs. Korea dispatched a 132-member delegation including 78 athletes to Beijing.

Host China won 89 gold, 70 silver and 52 bronze medals to finish first in its second straight Paralympics since the 2004 Athens Paralympics. The next Paralympics will take place in London in 2012.

Most of Team Korea will arrive at Incheon International Airport tomorrow afternoon. After holding a news conference, the team will officially disband.
