U.S. President George W. Bush emphasized on Thursday that he would make every effort to get the Korea-U.S. FTA ratified, as he had promised Korean President Lee Myung-bak during the Korea-U.S. summit talks last month.
During a celebration speech for the Asia-Pacific American Heritage Month, held at the White House, President Bush said, The KORUS FTA will not just increase bilateral trade volume by 17 billion dollars, but also strengthen relations with Korea, which is one of our closest allies.
He added, I will strive to enlighten the public about the benefits the free trade agreement can bring to the both countries.
