In the investigation of the case where the identities of many, including President Roh, were illegally used to register with the electoral college for the pro-government United New Democratic Party`s presidential primary, the Seoul Metropolitan Policy Agency revealed on October 5 that a number of falsely registered college students, including Park (19), have done part-time work for UNDP candidate Chung Dong-young. Now the police are investigating the link between identity theft and their part-time work.

In response to the Democratic Party’s claim that the identities of dozens were also illegally used in North Jeolla Province, the police said they would launch an official investigation immediately if the Democratic Party requests one, signaling the investigation into identity theft could soon expand nationwide.

A police investigation revealed that Jongno District Council member Jeong In-hun (45, female), who stole the identity of 522, including President Roh, introduced his son, Park, and other two university students to a man known as Choi in Chung’s camp. The three then began rearranging the list of party members as a part-time job.

A police official said, “Around August 23 or 24, the three who stole the identities worked for Chung’s camp on two to three occasions as part-timers. In order to investigate whether the list of party members arranged by the three college students was used in the identity theft, the police will soon summon Choi for questioning.”

On the same day, the police requested an arrest warrant for Jeong on charges of fabrication of private electronic information and interference in the execution of duty. With the apprehension warrant, the police is also trying to arrest a member of the Jongno District committee under the UNDP, Kim, who delivered the personal information of 800 Uri Party members to Jeong.
