Jochongnyeon Sold Land and Building in Tokyo

Posted June. 13, 2007 03:03,

It was revealed that Jochongnyeon, the pro-North Korean residents’ league in Japan, sold the land and the central headquarters building on it in Chiyoda, Tokyo, which is worth 2 billion yen (16 billion won).

What is noticeable is that the representative of the buying company is a former minister of the Public Security Investigation Agency (Koancho), whose activities include watching Jochongnyeon and collecting information on North Korea.

According to the Mainichi Shimbun on June 12, the 725-pyeong parcel of land and 3,545-pyeong building that housed Jochongnyeon’s central headquarters (with ten floors and two underground floors) was sold to Harvest, an investment consulting company on May 31.

It is known that Jochongnyeon will continue to use the building as a tenant.

The pro-North Korean association was sued by an agency in charge of clearing up bad credit and ordered to repay 62.8 billion yen.

Some suspect that there might have been an agreement between the Japanese government and Jochongnyeon. However, the government agency denied it, saying, “We are not concerned with the sale.”
