Parade

On February 7, on Cheongcho Lake, located in Sokcho City, Gangwon Province, 60 fishing boats registered to Daepo Harbor held a parade on the water. The parade was to demonstrate their support for Pyeongchang County, which is bidding to host the 2014 Winter Olympics. Ahead of the on-the-spot inspections of the International Olympic Committee, which are set to commence on February 14, citizens of Gangwon Province are giving their best efforts to promote their region as a worthy host for the Winter Olympics. Pyeongchang is competing with Salzburg, Austria, and Sochi, Russia, the result of which is set to be released in July, at the General Assembly of the IOC in Guatemala.
