Sunspots

The Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) captured the enlarging process of a particular sunspot group during the most inactive period of the sun. The width of the sunspot group (No.865) to the right of the sun’s center is more than 10 times the Earth’s diameter (approx. 12,700km). The magnetic field of the sunspot group is estimated to have the intensity of a medium scale (M) explosion on the sun’s surface. Such intensity could interfere with mobile communications at the Earth’s poles.
