On May 19, the fourth day of the inter-Korean vice-ministerial meeting held in Gaesong, South and North Korea agreed to normalize a general inter-Korean relationship, including holding a ministerial meeting in June.

In addition, they decided to resume inter-Korean consultative meetings in each field, including the Red Cross Conference, the Committee for Economic Cooperation and Promotion, and the general-level officers meeting, which have not been held for almost a year since mid-2004.

Regarding a specific date for the inter-Korean ministerial meeting and the matter of inserting the North Korean nuclear issue in a joint press release, however, the two Koreas failed to narrow their positions.
