Starting from the second semester in 2007, there will be a branch school of a famous school in East America established in Songdo new town in Incheon.

The Ministry of Finance and Economy’s Jo Sung-ik said yesterday’s press conference, “There will be definite cooperation with many foreign schools established in Incheon’s free economic area.”

To this, a worker in the MFE explained, “The foreign school has already finished its business likelihood test. It will be finalised as soon as the special law on foreign education organization gets passed next month by the National Assembly.”

He added, “Schools that are being built in Songdo are for foreign investors or board members’ children, and so we have decided to promote kindergarten to high school courses first. It will take in 2,000 students.”

Until now, if Korean students wanted to enter foreign schools, they had to have lived in other countries, and their credits were not accepted. However, a revision bill is on the way so that there will be no limits for Korean students entering foreign schools in the economic free area.
