The Constitution Forum was launched on Wednesday in the hopes of resolving the social conflict and uniting the people by the ideologies and values of the constitution.
On the same day, in a launching ceremony held at the Palace Hotel, located in Ban-po-dong, Seo-cho-gu, Seoul, 21 experts, in the age range from 30 to 50 and presiding in the law field, academic circles, and financial field, including law professor Kang Gyeong-geun of Soongsil University, professor Lee Dal-gon in the administration department in Seoul University, and standing advisor Yoo Han-soo for POSCO construction, participated as proposers of the meeting.
As an invited representative, lawyer Lee Suk-yeon, who led the decision on the Special Law on the New Administrative Capital Construction to consider the law unconstitutional, was elected.
When making the launching announcement, they stated, "The Republic of Korea, a solidarity of individual communities, is crumbling due to self-complacency of power and individual egotism. We organized the Constitution Form in an urgent need to realize the value of the community according to the constitutional principle.
In the announcement, it emphasized, Guaranteeing credibility and predictability means denouncing any unconstitutional situations, such as infringement and abuse of constitutional values in the name of overthrowing the vested people. The changes and the reform should be carried out on a practical level to increase the livelihood of the people to be more free and prosperous.
They stated, By conducting seminars and presentations, the constitution forum will propose measures on the major pending issues based on pragmatism. We will not show favoritism towards a certain administration, party, or political group, regardless of the outcome.
The same lawyer said, It is predicted that about 100 experts will have participated in the forum by the end of this year. First of all, we are planning to gather opinions on the pending issues, such as the four major reform legislations, US-Korea relations, and North Koreas nuclear problem.
