As the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development announced its plan to delay adoption of the planned National Education Information System, or NEIS, education superintendents from 16 cities and provinces issued a statement on May 26 in response to the decision. In the statement, it vehemently opposed the government decision and criticized the ministry for giving in to pressure from the Korea Teachers and Education Workers Union.
