Mass Production of NK Nukes in Few Years

Posted May. 26, 2003 21:22,

The CIA has secured one foreign nuclear scientist who participated in North Korea`s nuclear weapons` development program. The scientist is currently helping the CIA, as reported in the latest issue of Time Magazine (May 26th). The scientist has already gone to the U.S. and has provided valuable information to the CIA on North Korea`s capacity to develop nuclear weapons, Time reported, as quoting 2 U.S. officials and a news source from a foreign government who requested anonymity.

The CIA assumes that North Korea has built at least 2 nuclear weapons but the scientist has informed the CIA of how much further North Korea has advanced in its nuclear programs than previously thought.

“Making one or two nuclear weapons is a totally separate issue, than being ready to make hundreds of them. North Korea has been stepping up its production capacity to make hundreds of nukes in a few years,” a U.S. official was quoted as saying in Time. U.S. officials believe the information that the scientist provided will be a great help to the U.S. during negotiations with North Korea, the magazine reported.
