A job market led by big-sized companies is slowly reviving. According to a recruiting-information business Incruite on April 23rd, automobiles, shipping and IT companies are releasing new recruitment plans this year.
Incruite`s CEO Lee Kwang-suk said, “Recruiting by big companies have been delayed due to such bad factors as the Iraq War and the North Korean nuclear issue. But now as they announce new employment plans, the job market is beginning to show its animation recently.”
Automobiles with aggressive management strategies release aggressive recruiting plans = Hyundai and Kia Motors plan to recruit 200 new sales employees and 300 experienced sales employees this month. By August, they plan to recruit another 400 people fresh out of college. In addition, they will select some 100 brains with masters and ph.ds from prestigious universities overseas by next month to secure core and competent researchers.
An official from Hyundai Motors said, “We are affected by low domestic sales, but our exports are getting better. So, we decided to secure more competent workers during this economic downturn to jump-start our company while trying to grow into one of the five largest motor companies in the world.”
Renault Samsung Motors also plans to recruit 400 people in the production, research and development area after it already employed 400 in the first quarter of the year. GM Daewoo Motors that has doubled its export goals compared to last year also plans to newly recruit 200 and 500 to 700 in the latter half of this year.
Shipping companies expand recruitment scales amid the current booming market. As shipping companies obtain big-scale orders from overseas, they also expand their recruitment numbers.
Samsung Heavy Industries recruits 300 new employees this year, up by 30 percent compared to the same period last year. Hyundai Heavy Industries also doubles its recruitment to 100 this year while STX Shipping plans to select 30 more in addition to the already chosen 50 employees.
As construction companies get increasing orders, they are increasing recruiting numbers. Daewoo Construction will employ 100 new comers while POSCO Construction will recruit some 70 novices fresh out of college.
Electronics companies increase recruitment with high hopes for economic improvement. Electronics and IT businesses are releasing increased numbers for employment with high expectations about economic recovery.
LG Electronics plans to employee some 800 fresh-graduated and experienced workers and LG Cable will also select 50 people for research jobs. Samsung SDI will recruit 200 fresh-graduates for its development, sales, management support. Fujitsu Korea will recruit new workers for its system technology support sector and experienced workers for its sales and engineering sectors.
Distribution industry that has suffered from low domestic sales is also recruiting more people. Shinsegae will select 100 workers who completed their military service in May. Lotte Shopping plans to select 100 college graduates in May.
