Developing 50 IT Items As Top Brands

50 prospective IT technologies for exporting such as high speed Internet, Digital television, home networking, games and etc will be developed as the first class products by year 2006.

Additionally, Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC) will increase the export of CDMA system, ADSL and SI. So I will construct Korea as the center of ‘Global CDMA Belt’ and ‘e-Silk Road’.

At 5th, MIC announced ‘ the comprehensive plan of the development of overseas market a plan for IT industry’ that including details mentioned above. MIC will select 10 prospective IT items every year, 50 items for over 5 years to develop them as the first class products. In this year, CDMA, mobile communication, set-top box, high speed Internet, digital television, home networking, game software, Internet PC station, PDA, etc will be the subjects.

In the future, the export market will be diversified to new IT developing countries such as Southeastern countries, Russia, Middle east, etc from US and Japan. MIC has a plan to promote the export intensively according to geographical conditions, so SI service to Europe and Middle East, ADSL to South America, Eastern Europe and Southeastern Asia to construct e-Silk Road.

MIC will establish an IT export marketing consulting company to support for large-sized and small-sized companies to make consortium for developing overseas market. So KT will establish an IT marketing joint company of 1, 2 million dollars capital in Beijing of China in December with the Cooperative of IT Small and Medium Venture Business. Lee Sang-chul, the Minister of MIC commented, “Small percentage of discount of mobile charge will be decided in the middle of September.” The charge discount will be enforced in October.
