Public Prosecutor, “Considering of Deploying the Police”

Public prosecutor (PP) stated on 26th, that it is having discussions on deputing the police to Myeong Dong Catholic Cathedral, Seoul National University and Konkuk University, etc, where labor unions and executive parties of two public industries, such as railways and electric power industry who were under strike, are staging a sit down demonstration.

PP officials said, “we will decide whether to arrest leaders of labor unions for whom we have arrest warrants and to disperse labor by deputing the police or not, amid ongoing negotiations between labor and company.”

PP consider that especially, in case of continuing strike of electric power industry for more than 5 days would result in shortage of power supply, therefore, deputing police might be indispensable if the strike goes till first of march.

PP received information that labors and students who are in demonstration place like Seoul National University have plenty of steel pipes and fire bottles, therefore PP will issue warrant for seizure and confiscation of fire bottles, etc.

Labors who are accused by company on suspicion of violation of work till 26th are up to 100 persons such as 27 of railways, 49 electric power labors, and 20 of gas industry labor, etc.
