Motion to Impeach Shin Vote Today

The National Assembly will put the Grand National Party (GNP) -initiated impeachment against the Prosecutor General Shin Seung-Nam to be voted in a plenary session on 8th. But the there is the possibility of being voted down because the New Millennium Democratic Party (NMDP, 118 seats), the United Liberal Democrat (ULD, 15 seats), the Democratic People`s Party (DPP, 2 seats), and independents (2 seats) are going to be against or are going to abstain their votes while GNP lawmakers (136) will vote for in favor of the impeachment.

Kwon Chul-Hyeon, the Spokesperson of GNP urged for the participation of the lawmakers of NMDP and ULD saying, "the impeachment against Prosecutor General Shin is in order to restore Prosecution to serve the people, which is now currently serving only the government." Lee Sang-Soo the floor leader of NMDP said, "We will vote down the motion which is unlawful and unconstitutional."

And Kim Hak-Won the floor leader of ULD said, " While we are going to vote against the impeachment if the NMDP abstains from voting, we will abstain from voting if the NMDP votes to avoid the responsibility in case of the NMDP`s revolt votes."
