Actress Lee Mi-Yeon was cast as the heroine of KBS-2 TV`s historical epic, ``Empress Myungsung,`` to be aired every Wednesday and Thursday at 9:50 p.m. starting May 2.

Lee had devoted herself to movies after appearing for a while in the SBS-TV drama ``Love Story`` in 1999. She established her status as a box office draw by winning the best actress award in the 21st Chongyong Film Awards for her role in the movie ``Pisces`` last year.

In ``Empress Myungsung,`` Lee will play the role of the last empress of the Choson Kingdom as the program traces her life from age 16 into her 40s. Shooting will start next week. Yoo Dong-Keun will play Taewongun, father of Empress Myungsung`s husband, Emperor Kojong, and Kang Bu-Ja will play the role of Queen Mother Cho.
