Number of jobless exceeds 1 million in Feb.

The number of jobless hit 1.05 million in February, the highest level since reaching 1.03 million in March last year.

The figure accounted for five percent of the working population, coming close to the 5.3 percent mark it hit a year ago, the Ministry of Finance and Economy said Tuesday.

The number of people out of work was the highest since February, last year when 1,121,000 people were unemployed.

The ministry statistics show that the unemployment problem has worsened much more than expected.
