According to the audit and inspection material submitted from Ministry of Environment to the Grand National Party¡¯s Rep. Oh Se-Hoon, who also sits on the National Assembly¡¯s Environment and Labor Committee, soil pollution at 22 sites exceeds the norm and 15 of these are known to be around gas stations and petroleum reservoirs.

Soil is considered polluted if it contains over 80 mg/kg of benzene toluene or ethyl-benzene in total according to the BTEX, which is the norm that the soil pollution is measured against.
