Korean men's badminton doubles advanced into the quarterfinals, coming one step closer to getting a gold medal.
On Sept. 17 at Sydney's Olympic Park Pavilion 3 stadium, the gold medal hopefuls, the team of Kim Dong-Moon and Ha Tae-Kwon, easily defeated the world 12th-ranking Soon Kit Chaia and Kim Hokyap of the Malaysian doubles team in the 16th round of the elimination match 2-0 (15-5, 15-3).
Moreover, the Lee Dong-Soo and Yoo Yong-Sung doubles team, also gold medal hopefuls, advanced into the quarterfinals after defeating Peter Nolds and Julian Robertson of Great Britain 2-0 (15-4, 15-8).
The Kim and Ha doubles team was given the no 4 seed and had their first match today. With Park Ju-Bong, once famous himself, as their coach, the team dominated the match with their piercing smashes.
The no, 2 seed, the Lee and Yoo doubles team, also defeated the British team as easily as if they were playing a practice game.
Kim Ji-Hyun, who is competing in the Women¡¯s singles, beat Milain Klutier (Canada) with a 2-0 (11-1 11-3) win. Lee Kyung-Won also beat Elana Noseduran (Ukraine) with a 2-0(11-1 11-5) win. Both advanced into the 16th round.
