On August 14, former Japanese Prime Minister Hata Tsutomu expressed his sincere apologies to Korea, saying that he acknowledged the fact that the main cause of the unfortunate situation currently existing on the Korean peninsula was Japan`s course of action before and during World War II. Former Prime Minister Tsutomu said this while participating in the Moral Rearmament International Conference held in Kohr, Switzerland, and emphasized that Japan should support the peaceful reunification of the Korean peninsula through all possible means in the future.
