Final selection for the location of the President Park Jung-Hee Memorial has been decided.
The memorial dedicated to the late president will be located in the Peace Park, which is near the current construction site of a stadium for the 2002 World Cup events in the Mapo District in Seoul.
Shin Hyun-Hwak, former prime minister and current president of the Park Jung-Hee Memorial Construction Committee, held a meeting to finalize the decision at Chung Wa Dae with such men as the ruling Millennium Democrat Party`s adviser Kwon No-Kap, presidential chief of staff Han Kwang-Ok, senior presidential secretary for political affairs Nam Goong-Jin and administrative affairs Deputy Minister Choi In-Ki.
The 5,000-pyong site will include a memorial hall covering about 800 pyong of floor space. The hall will contain subsections such as the Hall of History (a historical exhibit), and the Hall of Records (library).
The budget for the construction has been estimated at 70 billion won with the government contributing 20 billion won and the rest the responsibility of the committee, which plans to hold national collection drives.
