Aespa wins three titles at Korea Music Awards

Korean girl group Aespa wins three titles at the 19th Korea Music Awards. Korea Music Awards (Awards committee headed by Kim Chang-nam) held an online awarding ceremony on Tuesday and awarded Aespa (photo) as the winner for “Rookie of the Year,” “Song of the Year,” and “Outstanding K-pop Song (for ‘Next Level’). The Best Album Award, which is the most prestigious award of the event, went to ‘There is a Wolf’ by singer-songwriter Lang Lee, who also won the best folk album award.

Duo group Haepaary and rock band Soum Balgwang each won two trophies. Meanwhile, BTS was awarded the Musician of the Year, recognized for topping the billboard charts with “Butter” and “My Universe.”

The achievement award went to Group Sound Devils who gained popularity in the 1970s. Korea Jazz Guardians and Han Gyeong-rok, a member of band Crying Nut, won a special award by the committee in recognition for their designing albums and performances to promote the music industry amidst the pandemic.
