Tottenham Hotspur striker Son Heung-min on Monday scored two goals (one assist) against Everton in Liverpool to have scored a total of eight goals this season. At the start of the season, Son was physically fatigued from his participation in the Asian Cup. But now he seems to have fully recovered, scoring five goals in seven matches in December, which is a tie with last December’s record.
In Monday’s match, Son proved that he can play well in various forward positions. Son, who used to play as a winger, played in the center forward position with Harry Kane. Son’s active movement led to the team’s first goal in the 27th minute. In the 61st minute, when Tottenham was leading 4-2, Son swept through defenders’ legs and scored his second goal on a pass from Erik Lamela.
Tottenham’s coach Mauricio Pochettino said Son was “unbelievable” against Everton. Before leaving the team to participate in the Asian Cup, Son said he would do his best to raise the team’s rankings. Monday’s victory has put Tottenham at the third of the EPL rankings.
