The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Colorado Rockies 5-2 in a tiebreaker game to become the winner of the National League West for the sixth consecutive year. Dodgers pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin is likely to start in the second game of the NL Division Series against the Atlanta Braves on Friday (local time).

Dodgers defeated Colorado in Monday’s tiebreaker game at Dodger Stadium with an amazing performance from starter Walker Buehler (6.2 scoreless innings) and a two-run homer from Cody Bellinger. Buehler even made a timely hit in the bottom of the sixth to finish the game with an RBI single and a walk. With Monday’s victory, Dodgers clinched 6th straight NL West title.

Dodgers and Braves, NL East-champion, will begin their best-of-five series on Thursday (local time). American media outlets predict, based on Dodgers manager Dave Roberts’ interview, that Clayton Kershaw will start in the first game followed by Ryu in the second game. It has been four years since Ryu started in the postseason after a match against the St. Louis Cardinal in 2014.

Ryu dominated the mound at the end of the regular season, contributing to team’s victory. He became the winning pitcher in the match against Colorado on Sept. 18 and against San Diego on Sept. 24, pitching seven and six scoreless innings, respectively. Ryu only gave one run in six innings in a match against San Francisco on Friday. It appears Ryu will be second in the starting rotation in the postseason after proving that he can pitch well in important games.

Meanwhile, the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Chicago Cubs 3-1 in a tiebreaker game to clinch NL Central Division victory. Wildcard game will occur between Rockies and Cubs on Tuesday (local time).
