Death certificate of painter Chun Kyung-ja disclosed

Lee Hye-sun (70, textile designer) said her mother and painter the late Chun Kyung-ja passed away at Lee’s condominium in Manhattan, New York in the U.S. at 5 a.m. on August 6.

In an exclusive interview with this reporter on Monday, Lee displayed her mother`s Certificate of Death issued by the City of New York. The certificate suggested it had been issued by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene at 9: 59 p.m. on August 10, four days after Chun’s death. The certificate was signed by her physician and suggested “This is to certify that the death was not caused by external injury or poison, nor did it incur under abnormal conditions, and it results entirely from natural causes.”

While allowing the reporter to read the certificate, Lee strongly requested this reporter not to "reprint the certificate as a whole in the newspaper.” As for the reason, she said, “No child of a deceased parent would want the death certificate of his or her parent to be publicized.”
