A theme park for pets is to be established in Yeoju, Gyeonggi province. The provincial government announced on Tuesday that the province plans to invest 46.5 billion won (approx. USD 39.38 million) to build a theme park for pets, which includes a pet protection zone, a cluster zone for related industries and a tourism area with a resort on a land in the size of 391,522 m² in Sanggeo dong in Yeoju city.
The protection zone for pets (46,200 m²) will house a protection facility for abandoned dogs, a veterinary clinic and an office building. The cluster zone (26,400 m²) for the related industries will accommodate a pet museum, pet shops, a pet funeral facility, and a dog training school.
The tourism area with a resort (59,400 m²) will comprise of the Pets Land, a camping zone with pets, a healing resort, an entertainment facility and trails for walk. Gyeonggi Province will complete basic planning and feasibility survey by December. After undergoing processes such as the investment and loan screening, and primary and final design in next year, the provincial government plans to start construction in March 2017. The construction is scheduled to be completed in October 2018.
