Samsung and LG have introduced ultra HD televisions that boast market-specialized features in China and Brazil.

At the 2015 Appliance World Expo in Shanghai that opened on Wednesday, Samsung Electronics showcased “SUHD TV,” a premium TV series model that was newly introduced this year. Particularly eye-catching was a China-specified function called “Shangshí Yuemu.”

In a Chinese four character idiom “Shangxin Yuemu,” which means “beautiful scenery pleases eyes and heart of a beholder,” Samsung coined a new word by replacing one character “xin” that means “one’s heart” with “shí” meaning “vivid” to describe the function that automatically upgrade low definition contents to higher definition. Samsung considered the Chinese market where many contents are optimized to smaller screens.

“Boasting SUHD TV`s innovatively higher definition, Samsung will take a lead in Chinese market,” said Kim Kwang-jin, director of the digital display division at Samsung Electronics.

LG Electronics also held its new product unveiling event “Digital Experience 2015” on Thursday at Bourbon Ibirapuera Convention Hotel in Sao Paulo, Brazil. At the 11th of the event, LG introduced “sports specified features’ given the love of football match. The features include a “Football Only AV Mode” that provides vivid resolution and enhanced sound as if watching a football game in a stadium and a “Time Machine Function" that allows football fans to easily record matches with USB flash drive.

“With our Ultra High-Definition TVs, LG will solidify its place in Brazil as most loved “national brand”,” said Byeon Chang-beom, president of LG’s Brazil office.
