U.S. Army’s 23rd Chemical Battalion is conducting operations to counter chemical, biological, radioactive, nuclear, and high-yield explosive threats at Camp Stanley in Uijeongbu Thursday. The battalion withdrew from Korea in 2004 but has returned this year to detect North Korean nuclear or mass destruction weapons and decontaminate them in time of emergency on the Korean Peninsula. Pyongyang`s Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea criticized the relocation of the battalion calling it a “flagitious criminal attempt,”on Wednesday.
