Deep-sea ecosystem on hydrothermal vents

Living creatures inhabiting hydrothermal vents are usually bright colored as being so deep in water is unnecessary because of the absence of sunlight. Small crustaceans live in an ecosystem on hydrothermal depostis (top). Gushing hot water creates unique forms of hydrothermal vents. The colors of chimneys change depending on water temperature and materials contained in it. The cream-colored areas show hot water gushing out of the vents.
