A Mitsubishi car dashes through a desert and kicks up a dust cloud Thursday in the Dakar 2011 Rally, dubbed the death race for being the worlds toughest off-road competition. Started in 1979 and formerly held in Europe and Africa, the race was moved to an Argentina-Chile course in 2009. The race is notorious for long and tough courses through deserts and jungles, and about 400 contestants will drive 9,500 kilometers on 13 courses in this year`s edition.
