The fares for the express train linking Incheon International Airport to Gimpo International Airport will rise 100 won (8 cents) in eight sections from Oct. 1, Korail Airport Railroad, the operator of the airport train service, said Sunday.
Fares for seven sections seeing heavy traffic will remain unchanged, however, including the GimpoGyeyang Station section (1,000 won or 80 cents).
Thus the fare for the Incheon-Gimpo section will rise from 3,400 won (2.84 U.S. dollars) to 3,500 won (2.92 dollars).
Separately, the non-stop express train from the Incheon airport to the Gimpo airport will be increased from 8,500 won (7.10 dollars) to 8,800 won (7.36 dollars).
The fare increase, however, will take effect after the second-phase airport train linking the Gimpo airport and Seoul Station is opened in December. Until then, the fare will stay at 3,500 won.
