Expedition of Hope

Torrential monsoon rain and scorching summer weather could not keep determined hikers from pursuing their expedition. The 2010 Expedition of Hope led by mountain climber Park Young-seok arrived at Seoul Plaza at 4 p.m. Monday after completing a 400-kilometer hike across the nation 14 days since departing July 6 from Yeosu, South Jeolla Province. No individual has failed in an expedition across Korea since 2004, when Park began his first expedition of the country with college students. Ninety-six members of the seventh expedition group celebrate completion of their journey by throwing hats into the sky.
