Rafael Nadal of Spain enjoys his victory Monday biting the trophy upon winning the men’s single title at Wimbledon for the first time in two years by crushing Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic in straight sets. Nadal thus clinched his eighth Grand Slam title. After suffering from a slump last year, he recovered the top spot in the world standings by winning Wimbledon after claiming the Monaco championship in April, ushering in his coming of age. His rival Roger Federer of Switzerland lost to Berdych in the quarterfinals, and slipped to third place in the global rankings.
