The national soccer team has flung open a gate that had been closed tight for more than half a century. The Taegeuk Warriors opened a new chapter in their history by reaching the World Cup`s second round for the first time on foreign soil. In its final Group B game Wednesday in Durban, South Africa, the team advanced to the knockout round after a 2-2 draw with Nigeria to finish second in the group with one win, one draw and one loss for four points. Striker Park Chu-young (second from the right) cheers with his teammates after scoring his team`s second goal in the 49th minute on a superb free kick.
